well today's adventure lead me to seeing what my child hood card collection phase was worth collecting sports cards, lets see i was introduced to collecting cards in grammar school and i collected for about 6 years. now to let you know my age i am in my late 20's so i am a true 1980's baby. the sports cards that i have collected are 20-40 years old.
i have a few books of sports cards i collected and i wanted an expert opinion on the and i called 2 card stores and the answers were the same they are not buying any cards from the 1980 or 1990 the first card place i stopped at i took my books in and do you think that he looked at them with me to tell me if i had a good collection no the guy just looked at a few pages and said "these are from the 80's and 90' if you have anything from the 70's take them out and let me look at them". So now for me to do that i have to take the cards out the plastic and handle them making the value of them go down.
After leaving that shop i called the other shop and the guy just told me that they were looking for sports cards from the 1950's and 1960's i do not have any cards that old so it was a very short conversation so after all that i put my cards up and now i have to wait another 20-30 years for my cards to become any value now i am thinking to my self was it a waste of time collecting cards as a youth a of September 12, 2012 i feel the cards i collected from the 80's and 90's were a waste of time.
lets see when my kids get older and collect card the look on their face when they see that their dad used to collect cards and give them that ambition to have a big collection and that their child hood of collecting card is worth it in the long run.
